Dayton Omnimic

So my speakers will be back by the end of this month, and they will be something special, I'm quite sure I'll be satisfied with as a main rig speaker for some time to come.

So done looking at speakers for the moment (the inevitable system 2, HT, that's another story.)

Ready to start thinking about room treatment, and getting that done next month, and possibly get my real sub system going too.

So that leads me to the Omnimic as my next purchase. They are on sale at $249 shipped till the 31'st. Anyone running one of these?

They look like a godsend. I don't have to worry about buying a stupid external soundcard for my laptop either, it's designed to plug right into the laptop via USB, so win win.

And the software suite, including the latest updates, are quite robust looking, at least for a beginner like me. I think I'll learn a lot.

Then I get to get my hands dirty and start building treatments, based of the results of my measurements and the help of the fantastic accoustics geeks here.

Anyone here using these? Do you like it?

I bought it to just check it out. Does it work? Yes but really does not give you nearly the info you need. It will though tell you how messed up your room is, but if your room is not treated that is a given.  :D If you want to buy it just for fun then go for it, if you want to really see things then down load REW.
BTW it is free!!  :thumb:

were you aware of the new update? Apparently they added a lot of stuff to it.

No I was not.. Actually after posting I pulled the program back up and took a look. It actually does have more then I remember. We are in the process of building (I can hear them pounding in the back NOW  :duh:) on a new testing/education room we are building. Once it is done and I have the gear set up I will try it again and see how it works. It may be a few weeks if not a month before I get around to it though.

Ok that's a relief. I'm actually already reading the manual online and it looks to do quite a lot, and very plug and play. The manual is actually very well written and is also a sort of measuring primer. Seems very advanced tool but easy to use for ham fisted noobs like myself. I am about to pay a very large bill for speakers but I'. Hoping I can still snag one on the last day of the sale. Pretty excited.

And hopefully I can one day tour your facility and hear it all done to perfection.
