The Kratos is a two-channel fully digital amplifier design.
The amplifier accepts a digital signal either from USB or SPDIF. This signal is then reclocked, amplified in the digital domain, reclocked again, and then converted to analog at the output of the amplifier.
Core has spent the last two years developing its power supply technologies specifically for digital systems alongside engineers from NASA and Rockwell Automation. There is not a power supply that comes close for digital audio. The digital amplifier allows an individual to remove thousands of items from the signal path including several stages of filters and conversions. It is as close to a perfect signal path as you can get. You remove a separate DAC, Preamp, and amplifier as well as the interconnects connecting them. All one needs is a single digital cable.
This system has a built-in voltage controlled attenuator that resides outside of the signal path for the lowest possible distortion. No passive, active, DSP, or optocoupler preamp is as low distortion. No filters, DSP, or passive components to remove the natural time and tune of the music. The result is an extremely high resolution sound that just sounds like music. If the music is rich and lush then you hear it, if the music is dynamic and forward then you hear it in all its splendor.
