Hey, those look just like MY Lores!!!  I have the same veneer as these as well.  Awesome speakers, for sure - have had mine since April, and they're not going anywhere!  At this price, you're saving about $400 plus shipping for a local sale.  Lores are currently going for $1000 new, and Eric charges $250 extra for that veneer.

yes, they are great speakers.

I didn't know that this veneer is now $250 extra.

I guess I don't know what he charges right now, but when I bought mine last April during the introductory price of $850 for basic black, he was charging extra for veneers or for premium paint jobs.  The extra charges started at about $250 for basic level veneers and went up from there.  As the introductory $850 price is long since past, and base price is now $1000, I don't know if his extra charges are the same now or if he's changed them.

Regardless, still a highly regarded speaker and a great deal.

I emailed Eric a few  weeks ago and he charges 250-300.00 for the veneers. Too bad you won't ship.

I would not ship them either.  I went against my better judgement and shipped a pair last week and both tweeters were damaged.  The shipping cartons he uses are great if you are an expert, both they are not the best for re-using over and over again.

I third that.  I was out around $250 for new drivers incl their shipping after my Lores were damaged in shipping.  The buyer never followed-through cooperating with the claim process so I did not get it back.

Fourth'd ...

I sold a pair of Rocket 850's here a couple of weeks back and I am totally out money and speakers.

I used originally packaging that AV123 used to ship these things over OCEANS with, and UPS drove a forklift through it.

Still trying to work out the claims process, but in all likely hood, I'll only get enough to refund the buyer the shipping costs, after I reimbursed him for the speakers.

Ridiculous. I don't know if I would ever ship anything like this again.

That was scary. I sold and shipped multiple items in the past, but none was big. Need to keep this in mind.

Explains why several internet/mail order based speaker manufacturers (like Fritz) only does standmounts.

Yep, both, yes both Zu Speakers I ordered last year were damaged.  Now that I think about it, I am 4 for my last 4!  The last two I received were damaged and the last two I shipped were damaged!

well i think these are sold, but money is not in hand yet --- so maybe not.

I have also had my share of shipping damage. Thats why i try to buy and sell locally anymore.

I have heard the damage usually happens at the large distribution hubs where the boxes may be reloaded to different trucks -- rush rush hurry hurry throw throw - where conveyor belts can be 30 ft high. No wonder there is so much damage. I would rather wait 2 or 3 more days for shipment if the shippers would slow down and "do it right"

This is a camera world -- why don't the shippers video their loading areas to see where the problem is and where improvements can be made. ?? Gee, you think they are making a lot of money and don't need to better monitor their operation! :>) Well, i can tell you they have lost lots of my money cause i hesitate to ship.
How many here have actually filed a claim? What a joke that is !

On smaller/medium boxes i think it is better to pay the excess price and let the shipper pack the factory box inside their box ---- at least they pay the damage claim then.

ok- i've vented and feel better now

If i have to ship these spkrs i am planning on building chip board boxes around the tekton boxes ---

Last time I shipped my 15 pound $700 drivers I shipped them separately, bolting each to a piece of plywood (using wooden block stand offs so surround/cone movement wouldn't touch the plywood).  The plywood was sized to fit tightly in the cardboard boxes.  Added 1.5 inch thick flexible/stiff/foam around them to insure no shifting while providing some protection from penetration.  Worked great via FedEx between Michigan and Washington state.
