Korg makes two digital recorders (one battery powered the other not) that are capable of recording at double speed DSD.  We can modify these recorders so they are state of the art.  You can then record your records to double speed DSD on the Korg and send them on to your computer (via usb) where you can transfer them to 24/192, etc using the Korg software and play them however you like (including making your own CDs, DVDs or DVD-As).  You can also put the double speed DSD info back into the hard drive on the Korg and play them through a superior modded output stage.  The battery powered Korg can be run off monster batteries so there is no AC grundge whatsoever.  All forms of PCM can also be played on the modded Korgs for superior sound.  You can use the modded Korg to record live music if you use it in conjunction with a great mic preamp (the mic preamp in the battery powered Korg is removed to make room for a state of the art line input which consists of zero feedback buffers driving an Amorphous core transformer....then right into the A to D chip).  This is serious state of the art.  I don't know of any better recorder. Pricing for the input stage mods start at $500.  Output stage mods can range from $100 to $500.  Battery supply mods from $500 including separate box for large batteries.  Plenty of options......the sky is the limit.

Turns out Korg has stopped production on the battery powered one (you can still buy the MR1000 but not for long)......So, I will modify both of them but concentrate on the MR2000...the studio version.  Of course, if one wanted to spend enough....it could be converted to battery power.
