DACs are back and we are modding.  We can do custom mods to the latest EE DAC, the Peachtree IDAC, DACit, Schitt or whatever DAC you favor.  I have been modding digital gear since it first came out and can do any number of mods.  For instance, I have a simple output stage that I use in the Oppo 95 mods than can also be used in the EE DAC (they use the same DAC chip).  This $200 output stage alone will take the EE DAC to a whole nuther world.  Please check out my Oppo 95 page for other types of mods and pricing.

Hi Rick,

I have been looking at this DAC kit. hifimediy.com/?wpsc-product=hifimediy-direct-out-dac-cs4398-wupsampling-19224-cs8421-tcx0-and-te7022-usb   Do you have any ideas what you would do with it?

Thanks,
Robert

Sure, better regulators, better clocks and having just caps on the output would probably limit dynamics and just gives you 1VRMS.  You could run it off batteries too.  However, my shunt regulators are rather large so it would have to be in a larger box.  If you are just spending $100 on something you might not want to spend a lot on mods.

20% off for the first person to send me a DAC to modifiy.  So, if you are the first to get an EE, Peachtree, Schiit, Wyred for Sound, etc. DAC modded you get 20% off.  Call for details.

Hmm, do you do mods to the Lite Dac Ah?

I can mod anything.  However, the size of some of these really cheap DACs limits what you can do with them......Also, most people buying a $250 DAC are not going to spend $200 (minimum charge for modding anything) or more on mods.  The best use of my expertise is to take an already over achieving moderately priced DAC (Schiit, EE, Peachtree, Wyred for Sound, etc.) and take it into a whole nuther realm of transparency.  My simple mods to the EE DAC Plus or Wyred for Sound DAC 2 would blow most people away.
