lots of good info here...

static rejection...

the MoFi's seems a little better than the plastic lined paper ones I just got.  Good thing I have a Zerostat gun (the REAL one made in England).

Plastic sleeve nearly ruined my LP!

Hi.

Happy new years to all our vinyl fans!  What are yr new year vinyl resolutions?

Like past years, I'll stop over more often my favourite shift store to try my luck on good vinly recordings, like the 3-disc album I picked up last summer, of Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" (London Stereophonic label) which sounds superb on wet play.

Last nite after my extremely busy work schedule last Decemeber, finally I had time to relax & listen to a few hours of my favourite music.

I pulled out the 2nd disc of the "Madama Butterfly" album to listen the gorgeous voice of Italian soprano Renata Teballi singing: "Un Bel Di" (One Fine Day). The finest soprano I ever heard so far, blowing away Joan Sutherland & Marilyn Horne, IMO.

I was somewhat 'horrified' when I spotted heavy water marks all over the record surface. Such water staining never ever happened before on my wet played LPs! - I did not wipe dry the record enough ????

Yes, I must have not wiped the disc dry enough before I put it back in its sleeve. When I checked up the sleeve which stores the LP, I found out why!

Guess what caused the huge water staining. It's the plastic inner liner of the orginal London record paper sleeve which trapped the residue water on the record. If it were all paper sleeve, such water staining will never occur as paper permits water moisture to breath away.

Immediately I replaced the plastic lined paper sleeve with a noname all paper sleeve.

Thanks goodness, my favourite soprano still sings "One fine day" like an angel before.

I replace all paper sleeves with MoFi sleeves. If the original sleeve on new vinyl is a polylined paper sleeve, then I do not replace it.

Laura

Ditto, those sleeves are the best thing MoFi make.
