Matched pair of Nelgan MARS I speakers (serial #’s #03100 & 03101). I bought these speakers years ago for a second system that only briefly materialized. Neil Brogan (Nelgan Acoustics Owner) checked this pair out and added a few upgrades to an already great speaker. I really don’t know much about them or what he did.

Here is something I found from the our circle: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=2175.0;imode

These are very solid/dense with quality looks and details – view finish and speaker connectors. I have the original boxes and packaging from Nelgan and have them ready to go to a new owner (see photos & double boxed shipping view). My price is $525 OBO + shipping & insurance (from Harrisonburg, VA).

I am putting up for sale many audio and video items – all with original boxes, paperwork and in fantastic shape (please check-out other FS items:  Norh Le Maps modified by Bolder Cable, Ortho Spectrum DR-3000 & pair of Musicalizer ML-206, Cambridge Audio D500SE CD, OPPO DV-981HD DVD Player, Audio Alchemy DTI+, Rotel RA-840B3 Integrated Amp, Phillips CD-60 Player, JVC Super HI-FI VCR (like new: HR-S3600U), SONY Mini-Disc Deck MDS-JE330, Stealth Audio cables (power cord & Digital), Analysis Plus Video Cables (2 S-Video & Video Component) & Norh 4.0 Ceramic Blue Speakers – still look cool!

Please check my Ebay feedback (vapro10s) or ancient Audiogon feedback (rakerpro10s)

PS     Might also be talked into selling:  ONIX SP3 Integrated Tube Amp, MSB LINKiii DAC (with upsampler chip), JVC DVD Player modified by Stan Warren and/or Vandersteen 1B’s (more like C’s because they I sent them back to Vandersteen for new socks and updates as the original owner  – have the sound anchor stands too).

speakers look interesting but VERY little info on the Net ... appears company went bankrupt some time ago.  Any idea what driver this uses??  I assume it is a co-axial type not a full range drive unit.

overall condition appears good with the exception of the darkening of the finish where the grills do not cover.  any nicks, dents, scratches etc???  what would you rate the condition on a 1/10 scale??

also what are the dimensions and weight of the speakers??

thx!

They look like Seas coax drivers but I'm not sure.   Not much info on the company but the speakers look to be in nice condition.  If you are local, I'd see if you could get an audition in person.

I'd be curious to hear these but I'm too far.  Good luck with the sale.  Coax speakers done right are very good sounding. These are nice and compact and attractive looking.

thought Seas co-ax possibly as well but not sure if they had a co-ax driver back pre-2003 (company appears to have filed for bankruptcy that year) ... may have though as I believe Gradient speakers of that era used Seas co-ax ... they sure mounted the hell out of the driver!  that thing should never come loose!

To help with some of the questions

After reading the printed Owner's Manual for the MARS Series of Speakers, I believe these are coaxial speakers. I am unsure of the drivers as I have them professionally boxed up (see the photo) to keep their condition.

When I purchased these the owner sent them back to Nelgan to be checked out. Neil Brogan (Nelgan) said he updated them to be "beyond" the Mars i speaker (his best at the time)? I do not know what was done and can try search my records further.

Printed SPECS on Mars i

I have not given up on these speakers but still finding out very little about them (other than the linked post above)

If anyone knows anything about the company, the speakers and/or the drivers or crossover, please post.  I have enjoyed most co-axial designs I have heard over the years

thx
