I'd say the gift for the Vinylphile who has everything would be the Vitus MP-P201.

Yeah, but it looks like it really has a great record clamp!

Uh, is that wall-mounted?

And wouldn't that speaker under the disc cause echoes?

Hey!

Ouch! I wouldn't put my LPs on that thingy on the wall  :icon_lol: I would think that to keep the cart on the vinyl the tonearm likely use spring to with heavy tracking force.

That reminded me of something I saw on the net...

Hmmm... protable eh? :icon_lol: But this is nothing new. I remembered seeing something similar a while back... I think it was a Sony. Still I think I prefer to leave my LPs at home. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Here's an origami model, turntable. Sustainable... from renewable materials. Discard it, and replace it when it is worn out. Good for late night, small apartment listening. Not good for spills and matches. Light weight, and the headshell, cartridge assembly can double as a paper cup.

Or if the last model is too low-tech, why not try one of these?

Beam me up Scotty. The dilithiuim crystal on my stylus has entered the Romulan Neutral Zone, and it needs to be retipped at Soundsmith.  :thumb:

I think also this may have been about the time "Hi-Fi" started to become a pejorative term!

Notice how obvious the flutter gets by the time the last record in the stack is played (Angel Baby)? I'm guessing this is because there is now so little flywheel effect to smooth out the flutter with all the records but one off the spindle. It's probably some sort of rim drive. RCA strikes again!

I recently read Keith Richards' autobiography, and he relates travelling through Europe in a Rolls Royce he bought specifically because it had a 45 rpm record player in it. Must have been a sight: Richards, Jagger and Marianne Faithful(?), stoned, in a Rolls listening to Buddy Holly 45's.

I heard a version of this story (Rolls w/ TT) with John Lennon, LSD, and Procol Harum's then-new "Whiter Shade Of Pale". John's favourite pastime (since neither he nor Keef drove too much or too well) was to sit, for extended periods of time (hence the 12-hour effects of LSD) listening to his portable TT playing the Gary Brooker all-time classic in his psychedelically-appointed Rolls (Bentley?). What a heady time.

I had a rare opportunity to buy that psychedelically painted Rolls for only $35,000 about 15 years ago, but couldn't convince my wife that it made sense. It was owned by a local businessman who, I think, was spooked by its "bad karma". :o

It's currently valued at way over a million, of course.

That looks like a cool science project.
