Wireless connection
« on: 24 Nov 2011, 04:55 pm »
What are the advantages (if any) between a hard connection (ethernet cable from the BDP-1 to computer) and a wireless connection using a wireless adapter connected to the BDP-1 like a d-link dap-1513 ( or trendnet tew-654, d-link powerline dhp-307av).  Secondly if using the mancave option with an independant router, when controlling the BDP-1 with an Ipad or Ipod are you able tio see the cover art or is it need to have an access to the internet to have them available.  Thank you.

Hi Gil,

Wireless is just for CONTROL of playlists etc. so different approaches do not affect the quality of audio in the BDP-1.

Yes you must be connected to the internet to get Album Art that is not embedded in the file.

If the album art is not embedded in the file, can you not also view the album art if the cover image is stored in the album folder as folder.jpg?

If using dbpoweramp and rip in flac, would the cover art be available on the ipod using mpod without a connection to the internet. Still preparing myself before receiving my BDP-1 and BDA-1 probably next week.  Want to start ripping my CD's and do it right the first time.  Still have to decide if I will go for the mancave option or go with a wireless connection to my computer.  Will try to avoid using a cable between the BDP-1 and the computer, as I will have to relocate which is not my beast option.

Thank you Robert.  It seem to be easy to configure, just what I might need.  Will check it for sure, it might be the way to go for me.  Thanks again.
