Question about the X-statiks
« on: 20 Nov 2011, 03:16 pm »
I've googled for an hour or so and can't find this information anywhere else.

What I need to decide is whether upgrading my amp is worthwhile or not.  In terms of how much power they put out.  I have a pair of X-statiks, along with the X-voce center channel, and my amp is an Outlaw 7100.  Which is a 100w/channel amp.

My question is, is this plenty for the speakers or would it be beneficial to upgrade to a 200w amp at some point?  I'm using a Yamaha receiver as a pre-amp right now, which has a built in 7 channel amp rated at 95w.  I may have a buyer for my Outlaw, at which point I could run the speakers off the receiver until I get a new amp.  I'm just not sure how much power the X-statiks are designed for.  I'm guessing with their high sensitivity and easy 8 ohm load that 100w is fine.  In which case I'll probably just keep the amp I have.

Thanks.

I have enjoyed them with some small tube amps. Anything 15 watts or more will really let them sing. It also depends on your room size.

I drive my ob/7's which have several more drivers with 120wpc. I used to have 60wpc and they sang just fine.

I would only upgrade for quality not more power.

I'm running my statiks/voce/omnis off the Outlaw 1070 (65w/ch) receiver along with a single servo sub and it sounds awesome!  I'm sure what you have is plenty.
