Denon DL-304 with Jolida JD9A
« on: 19 Nov 2011, 06:36 pm »
Is anyone using this combination? I'm wondering if the Jolida's 80db maximum gain will be enough for the Denon's .18mv output. I would be using this combo with a VPI Scout with the JMW9 arm.
Thanks, Sam   8)

don't know the answer to that one. I have a AT-F7 with a .35mV and with my JD9 it gets pretty loud...

Hi Sam,

I run my 0.15mv Denon DL-S1 into a 60db gain phono stage and have run a DL-304 into a 63db unit.

I have to turn the volume knob up a couple of extra clicks over CD  - but both sounded superb.

80db should be fine - Just give it a whirl and see how you get on, I'd be surprised if there would be any issues from a gain perspective.

Nice cart  :thumb:

Cheers

I finally got everything mounted and set up last night and all I can say is WOW! The 304 is a definite step up over the 301mkII, the increase in inner detail is impressive to say the least. The 304 also works very well with the Scout's arm, a good match IMHO. There is more than enough gain with the Jolida to drive the 304's .18mv output and the two sound great together. I'm very pleased, money well spent for a change.
