Some of the up-market Bang & Olufsens are nice, as well as the Philips GA 212 which lifts and shuts off at the end but does not return, which I think is a good compromise - preferable, in fact.
The Luxman PD277 is very nice and has a fantastic 10" straight Micro Seiki arm. The auto mechanism is optical and is decoupled from the arm.
I know Wayner's got his own angle on these But I'm still very happy running a Dual 1219 as a 2nd deck One of the more respected versions I believe and possibly something to consider if you're after something a little more retroFully Auto - Flick a switch and off it goes (and returns)33/45/78 RPM7/10/12"and, if you're feeling really nostalgic (and brave ) - stacking Possibly another option?CheersDave
i've got a buddy who just acquired a pretty nice vinyl library, but insists he really wants a quality turntable with auto-return feature. suggestions/thoughts?
+1The TT has two motors, one for the arm and one for the platter. I fixed one recently, the arm was frozen and responded to removing the base and moving the gears a bit. Also had to construct a new counterweight for the anti-skate. Wayner would have been proud!Paul
