Hi,
to my amazement I experienced the 28sst clipping for the first time, and with music I would have never thought that would happen. I ripped one of my all time favorite cd's, Glenn Gould's second Goldberg variations, and played it like I always do. Not much louder. Sounding wonderful as ever. CD on the BCD1 or rip on the BDP1, both doing a great job.
And then suddenly they clipped, twice. My Esl's did not trigger the safety and were unharmed. (they did only once too, except for the bass panels before I purchased the 10bsub, on EP Salonens Romeo and Juliet, with an orgasmic cymbal crash. That same track is played rather fine now, without any problems, and really loud indeed, through the BDP1.)
Looking into this, I found that even Ingrid Haebler in Mozart's Piano Sonatas managed to clip the 28b's. If you know these recordings, you'll agree they are very fine, but also very calm and maybe even a bit too polite. Nothing to associate with clipping....
Are piano-recordings that dangerous? I know they are notoriously difficult, but this is a new sensation for me.
How come the same music has these different technical effects? What do I have to watch out for? Don;t want to break anything...What does the BDP1 do to these recordings that stays covered in the BCD1?
Thanks,
Marius
