Side grills and bases for RM30's
« on: 11 Nov 2011, 08:14 pm »
My RM30's (in black) were damaged yesterday during transport.  I should have removed the bases first but you live, you learn.  I believe that along with the screws and bolts, the bottoms are comprised of the bases themselves and the U-shaped section of wood that goes in between the bases and the speakers.  I need two more of the "U" pieces, and one more complete base.  Can parts like this be ordered directly from VMPS?

Also, I don't have the cloth grills for the side firing woofers and am looking to get those as well.

We don't have spares, unfortunately.  The parts in question are the "base rail" or U shaped section, and "base plate" that fits underneath it.  We can make up these parts by hand, but they are expensive due to the custom work involved: $80ea for rails, $60ea for baseplate.  Call 510-222-4276 to order.  Side grills with cloth are $50ea.

Thanks for the quick response, Brian.  I will call this afternoon.

Glad I could order these parts!  I'm also curious about the L-pads and the caps.  I own another pair of RM30's and the two dials appear to protrude the same distance.  On my newer pair, the dial on the left sticks out much further than the one on the right.  Is this normal?  Also, the stickers have been removed from the back of my towers - how to I confirm whether the caps are TRT's?

Lpads come with 1"shafts in the normal configuration.  When these are not available, we can substitute the same value pads with shorter shafts.  Thus the difference.

You can identify the caps by opening the speaker (through the front or bottom), pulling out the fiberglass, and looking.  TRT mid caps are red, and the treble caps are white with green caps.
