converting hi rez to wav for cd burning
« on: 9 Nov 2011, 12:12 am »
I'm not sure this is the correct circle for this.

I want to convert flac files that I downloaded to wav so that I can burn them to a cd and read them on a standard cd player.  I am rather a noob.  I have foobar and see that there is a way to do it but it seems rather involved.  I don't see any way to do it with JRiver media player or EAC.  Something free and simple would be appreciated.  TIA :D

First, yup, fine to post here.

Second, if you burn the files to a CD, you can only have them as HiRez if you burn a data disc. If you burn them as an audio CD, the files will be converted to 16 bit 44.1Khz. This is the CD standard, and is not flexible.

Anything up to and including 16/44.1 will be fine, higher than either 16 bit or 44.1 khz will be resampled to maintain the CD's readability in players.

To get hiRez onto a disc, you'll need to burn either a DVD or DVD-audio format, which will require some software such as this:

let us know what you end up doing.
