Did you use it with a hard drive or SSD in your system?
Both! I use a SSD for the OS (Win7 64) and 1TB HD for music storage. Bear in mind I already have my PC connected to a Felix and it runs with a fanless PS with one of the lowest ripple/noise specs.
Can you tell us more about your system, if you don't mind? Also, did you find the biggest improvement from the filter on the OS drive or the Music drive? Thanks,Jim
I installed them simultaneously so could not tell you which would offer the bigger improvement. Honestly I think this is one of those areas you don't want compromise given the already high noisecontribution from all devices in a PC.I am running an AMD X2 560 w/ 8GB ram,Radeon 5670 video card, OCZ SSD 30GB for OS(Win7 64), 1TB WD HD (internal) for music/video/game storageDacport LX USB DAC (see Cheap and Cheerful for my review)Simplese tube amp, Mark Audio Full range Drivers/8" woofers active xo w MinidspPlayback I alternate between XXHighend and XBMC
Thanks! What kind of ps are you using for the comp?-Jim
Do these computer audiophile upgrades apply while using Squeezebox software for music streaming?
No. The only connection between the server running Squeezebox Server and the Squeezebox is over the network. The computer can be just about anything that runs reliably.
Except that to get from the server to the network, the music file starts at the aforementioned HD and then is sent out over the network. So the filter does have an effect.
the filters in question are designed to smooth the power into the drive and minimize the amount of noise that the drive places back into the system.
