DVD region question
« on: 4 Nov 2011, 04:21 pm »
Since this thread is moderated by BISL, it's the perfect place to ask a dumb-ass question, right?

If a DVD on Amazon is marked  [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - United Kingdom ], I assume it won't work in NTSC, correct?  Does my player, Oppo or Marantz SACD/DVD, read it ?  Any cheap way to convert it?  Otherwise I'll have to by a VHS version.

Thanks, and we'll let Bob go pack to surfing porn at work. :thumb:

Hiya Bob,

You can 'hack' your Oppo where it will read and play any disc. If that one doesn't work, let me know.

No, I didn't, Bob, but I thought I'd play a hunch.  Apparently I was right, eh?

You know, there is treatment for that kind of thing, unless you are at Penn State................ :icon_twisted:

GREAT!  I KNEW there was a reason I was hanging on to my 971!  I'll try it tonight!

Thanks!
