Has any one downloaded Fleetwood Mac's Rumours from HD Tracks and can pass on how good it is?

good question,I own the dvd-audio and the sacd,curious as to what source they ripped it from,I ripped the dvd-audio 2-channel and sounds damn good,I would think If they are pulling from all the oop dvd-a's it should sound pretty good as long as Hdtracks isn't toying around with it :)

And is it the remastered version? I have this on my to buy list (searching used CD shops) as this is one of the few remasters that is worthy.

I would think it is off the DVD-A.  I have the DVD-A on my "to buy" list, but just wanted to know if anyone had downloaded the HD Tracks version.

It is downloaded, and I need to move it into my library. I am at work, so it will have to be done at lunch (soon).

Problem being, I have nothing to compare it to other than a CD rip of their greatest hits. That is the main reason I bought it, as I do not own any previous version.

I don't know why I said I have nothing to compare it to, every song on this album is on The Greatest Hits 1 & 2  (well, 8 of the 11 anyways..)

It sounds awesome, --judgement reserved-- but a picture is worth a thousand words.

As a side note, they have the songs tagged as are 16bit 96000 Hz. Now I am totally confused.

Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)
  96.0 kHz Sample Rate
  16 Bits Per Sample
  2 Channels

  Min Block Size = 4608
  Max Block Size = 4608
  Min Frame Size = 16
  Max Frame Size = 12231
  Padding Block = 3967 bytes

# of Pictures = 1
  Type 3 (467157 bytes)

Vorbis Comment Block (286 bytes):
  Vendor String =
  HDTRACKS = www.hdtracks.com
  Description = reference libFLAC 1.2.1 20070917
  TIMEREFERENCE = 0
  CODINGHISTORY = A=Microsoft PCM Format F=96000 W=16 M=stereo

  ARTIST = Fleetwood Mac
  ALBUM = Rumours
  TRACKNUMBER = 01
  GENRE = Rock
  Date = 2011

I wish I had my SR-325is at work, these B&W C5s aren't cutting it.

I had an issue with a 44/24 recording that displayed on my player as 96/16. I contacted HDTracks and confirmed that the recording was 24 bit. Perhaps it's a similar kind of tagging issue.

I do not claim to be an expert, but that CODINGHISTORY tag in the comment block tends to make me believe it never was 24bit.

As I stated in my edited post, my opinion on the recording was reserved until I did some further testing at home. In short, it is awful. I am more concerned at this point in getting my money back from HDTracks.

What makes it awful?

Just downloaded it, I'll pass my thoughts later this afternoon.  As an aside, all of the album I received shows 24/96 in the tags.

Download it and form your own opinion.

Not exactly helpful.

If this is your approach, why bother posting your comment that it is awful in the first place?

Downloaded it last night.  Received an email today to redownload it as there was some issue with their upload.

Will see what happens on this download.

Ok, the new download says 24bit/96KHz 2 channel on Foobar2000 v1.1.8.

Will give it a listen soon.

It sounds identical to my DVD-a rip, didn't do any waveform analysis.

A slightly different mix, I believe than the one just released by Kevin Grey/Steve Hoffman as well.

Thanks, that is good to know. I still have not received any email from them on this, hopefully they are working on getting it out to me.

Just finished listening to all the tracks.   Sounded really good here with the HAL PC Music Server setup. :thumb:

So it’s not the new Grey/Hoffman release, I have the old DVD-A.
