In the current issue of Absolute Sound, the reviewer states, "As with Bryston's analogue electronics, the BCD-1 is neutral and transparent, though it's soundstage will be squished and it's tonality a mite dry if not supported by a good set of cones". 

Any folks on this forum try cones with their BCD-1?  And, did it have the effect mentioned by the reviewer?  For those folks who have tried this, what cones were used?

I used 2 chocolate icecream 'cones' and it sounded really open for about 5 minutes then the melting started and everything collapsed - not to mention the cleanup required

 Traffic cones are better but the color sucks...................

When I had the BCD-1 I never used cones.  I did, however, use a Gingko Audio Cloud 10 platform under it.  Cones, at least to me, seem to help more with tightening up bass response, if there is a problem with that regard.  I have cones under my Marantz DV9600 which I'm currently using as a CD transport into my Bryston BDA-1.
