The grill covers on my Quad 12L speakers have some greenish, powdery looking mold or mildew on the inside edges of the top and sides. What is the best and safest method to remove this?

Do you have a moisture problem? Make sure your grilles are absolutely dry and vacuum them with a brush attachment. I happen to have a "soft" natural bristle brush attachment that I use only on my electronics, computer, etc.

You'll want to kill that stuff, too.
Baking soda works well for that job.

Baking soda mixed with a  little water, say, on a toothbrush or cloth?

Lemon juice and salt. Moisten stain with lemon juice, spread on salt and scrub with a toothbrush.  Place in the sun to dry (or electric heater this time of year). Rinse thoroughly. Use with care on colored fabrics.

My grills are black. Won't the lemon juice bleach them?

I used baking soda in water, 1 teaspoon per quart, in a spray bottle when I had a mold explosion in my snake cages following Tropical Storm Irene.
I would think you could just give it a light spray it on the grill and then vacume it clean once it dries.
