14B ST Questions
« on: 28 Oct 2011, 03:39 pm »
I'm wondering if someone can help me with what the relevant differences are between the 14B ST and 14B SST?  I'm looking at buying a 14B ST to replace my 4B ST and wondering if it's better to wait and find a 14B SST.

Thanks for your help.

I believe the difference is approx 100 additional watts of output for the SST(600 vs 500 for the ST)due to  higher tranformer secondary voltages.

The later 14BSTs might be SSTs from memory (could be wrong).  Probably an old thread on serial nos.  I'm sure James Tanner will chime in.

I believe the factory final spec sheet that comes with their amps is
14bsst-633w/ch
14bst600w/ch

so although they are rated at 100w difference, the actual performance is only around 35w
They are the same amp as the SST,so is a 6bst

Hi Folks,

The original 14B ST was the first of the SST's but it was replaced with the 14B SST2 which has the new Torus style transformers.  So it is not just a power difference between the two.
