dBpoweramp question
« on: 17 Sep 2011, 08:59 pm »
Greetings everyone,
Planning on downloading and using dBpoweramp to burn a bunch of my CD's to FLAC files before my BDP-1 comes on Monday :)

On the companies website, I see three different versions of the program:
(1) dBpoweramp FREE
(2) Power Pack and mp3 License, and
(3) dBpoweramp Reference

Would the free version be sufficient for ripping and converting existing Apple Lossless to FLAC?  Or do should I consider one of the paid versions?  I can't find on the website where it allows me to download the free version?  I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Thanks.

I have the full Reference version.  I believe you will need this version, also.

I would say to just buy the; dBpoweramp Reference version. I did as others have said, you will not regret it, one of the easiest to use and useful programmes you will ever purchase..

Cheers

Thanks everyone.  I did go ahead and purchase the Reference version.  I am busy securely ripping!

And for me the Reference version brings the most wonderful batch processor (DBPoweramp Batch Converter), so any conversions required can be done in a large batch, and you can direct it to create separate folders, subfolders, etc..

I'm looking forward to trying with it with some Apple Lossless files I want to convert to FLAC.

Out of curiosity regarding the dbpoweramp.Do you use the default naming scheme or do you create your own naming and do you leave the rip at default 5.

I'm new to the program, but I have been using the default naming scheme and compression level (i.e. 5).

No compression can make a difference
