Well, Mississippi is known as the Magnolia state but the Magnolia is actually our state flower here in Louisiana.




Taken with a Canon 1Ds2 using a 70-200mm F/2.8L IS and a 2X converter for a focal length of 400mm wide open at F/5.6 because of the converter.

Well, I live in a wooded area but I can't get close to any of the Magnolia blossoms. So in order to fill the frame, I thought I'd try the 2x. I don't use it often but I thought it was called for in this instance.

I'd love to be able to get close enough to use my 100mm macro lens. I've located a low enough bud that's also close enough to the lane. I'll use my step ladder and see, maybe tomorrow.
