HIFIMAN HE-4's
« on: 9 Sep 2011, 08:19 pm »
thanks to Tom I'm a HIFIMAN for life  :thumb:

I got these about an hour ago and couldn't even wait to build a cable to hook them up to my Sensation :) I took an extra long lunch  :nono:

I used our 4 conductor Quadraphonic speaker cable to build it with.

God I love these headphones ! :P  :drums:  :bounce: :hyper:

I already build those just let me know what length you want and i'll shoot you a quote

cables@virtueaudio.com

on the HE-4's I had to cut off the 1/4" plug that comes on them and wire in a 4pin xlr plug so for those of you needing that done it will cost a little more.

I'll try to post a price list in this topic this weekend of various lengths.

I'm also going to try a few different types of wires. I'm thinking Auric hookup wire but that gets pricey quick.
I can use almost any wire you want.

Jason--I have some HE-5LE's and a TWO.2, the cans come with both kind of cables in my case so I can choose 1/4" or XLR so I won't need an adapter. Do you make a box or converter so we can use the TWO's speaker outputs or do you think the one HiFiMan sells is a good choice??

I'm making strictly extension cables for them however I like the adapter box idea that's cool.
I would say go with whatever is easier for you to use.

Jason, so is it OK to use the box with TWO.2 ? Nothing will smoke? Nothing will burn up before my horrified eyes?? :thumb:

Edit: Jason is it OK with the box to leave it plugged up to the Virtue say by banana plugs while using it with speakers with wire wrapped around post?? Can I set that thing up and leave it set up and just plug in cans when I want to do cans. I'll figure someway to turn speakers off in the room.

Yep, Magnepans in a can. But since there are no cross-overs involved, the Hifiman and Audeze cans are even more detailed than the Magnepans.

Then I completely understand Jason's enthusiasm. That must be awesome. I must have some.

Be sure not to bridge grounds on those 2 channels.  Some of the headphone adapter cords do it because most op-amps don't care.

Looks cool!  That will work too!
