New caps for older amps

James could you tell me if I send in my4B ST for a check up would the caps be replaced with the same or better versions? :tempted:

Only if they needed replacements.

Now speaking of new caps, my 3B-ST had a mechanical hum, no matter what outlet it was plugged in, tried a couple different houses as well.
 
I sent it into Bryston - they replaced the transformers and the filter capacitors.  Since my 3B-ST was not one of the latest ST versions, they installed the latest ST transformers and capacitors.  So it turned out the the capacitance was increase by 12,000uf.  Output power tested at 160w+160w, the 3B-ST spec. is 120w+120w.  (all under warranty - only cost me the one way shipping to them).
 
In short, if there is a repair need on your amp - Bryston really takes care of you.  They will fix everything that needs to be fixed and will use the latest parts for the model.  Note: they did not install SST transformers nor capacitors - believe me, I asked... :D
