Hi Folks,

..... Or should nuts and bolts be used? I would prefer to use nuts and bolts but the main issue is access in case I need to remove the driver in the future without destroying the cabinet as the amp will be external to the cabinet which means nuts can't be tightened from behind so it's either woodscrews from the front or bolts first installed permanently from inside then place the driver on them and nuts on the outside. Cabinet material is mdf and I've tested hurricane nuts but they started spinning under pressure and if that happens in the sub then I couldn't get access to fix it. Is there a tried and true way? Woodscrews are easiest but into mdf, would they last, especially if you remove the driver a few times and have to keep tightening and unscrewing?

Wood screws are fine. Just don't strip them out by over tightening.  MDF hold screws fine when going into the surface- not so much into the edge.

Thanks for that! I think I'll go with that and stop stressing over it!

We have been sending out wood screws with out kits for almost 15 years. They work fine.

One thing I would add, in MDF I always drill a small pilot hole to give the threads somewhere to bite. MDF doesnt react to screws the same way wood does but once its in its extremly stable. R.K.

If you go to your local hardware store they will sell you a screw made specifically for MDF.
It looks like a normal wood (coarse thread) but has a double spiral with different size turns.
These work extremely well in MDF, and you dont have to pilot, although I always still do.
