I owned this cartridge for a while, but it was soooooo boring, I sold it. To be honest, the only mod I'd do to it would be with a hammer. I just couldn't make myself get another one to try the mod.

Hi,
Since that thread was current, Jico came out with an SAS stylus for the M97. That is said to transform the cart and address the deficiency. Loading the stock cart at 62K, if that is a possibility, is also an option. Before you glue the stylus I'd consider a replacement. You can get the SAS at LpGear or directly from Jico in Japan.

G'day all, I'm one who uses the 'stock' M97xE at 62 k and I have no complaints with the upper treble response.

The Jico SAS stylus is a better stylus at 47 k, but the stock version loaded at 62 k is very agreeable sounding.  It is easy to do if you DIY your own phono stages as I do.  Regards, Felix.
