as far as a soundcard can be considered as *recording* equipment...i have a ESI Juli@ soundcard.

some specs:
- S/PDIF in/out 192/24 (coax)
- optical out 96/24
- two mono pairs of balanced/unbalanced analog in/out

using it to to 96/24 recordings (vinyl) with very good results. stereo playback is great!

James,

the phonopreamp's unbalanced outputs are directly connected with the unbalanced inputs of the Juli@. the soundcard includes the Steinberg Cubase LE5 software. although the card can handle up to 192/24 for recordings the software "keeps" it down to a maximum of 96/24 because the LE5 version is a 'light-version'. but there is an update available...and i think if you do the upgrade you'll be able to do 192/24 recordings. i haven't tried it yet as i am pleased with the 96/24 results.

Hi al,

Rega turntable> Vista Audio phono preamp> Benchmark ADC-1> Pro Tools MBox Pro

I usually capture everything at 24/48 because that's what my Mbox Pro likes. Overall I'm happy with my transfers.

Nackamichi 581 Discrete 3 Head Cassette Deck, works, but needs some work.
Harmon Kardon TD392 3 Head Cassette Deck, actually in the system for that occasional walk down memory lane. Still works & sounds great.
