The great thing is that you can roll in some NOS 6AU6's for really cheap as those aren't commonly used in stereo gear.  Ebay is showing lots of options for under $10/pr including a pair of Teles!

Rolling the 6V6's will unfortunately be more expensive.  While they are rare in audio circuits they are fairly common in older guitar amps and so you'll be competing with those nuts for NOS tubes.  But ebay is still showing lots of options for under $20/pair.

Keep on Rollin'!   :thumb:

Boy when I take the DAC/pre out of the equation and take the CD player direct to the amp...very, very dynamic...more weight behind the music, rimshots sound like what rimshots actually sound like...gotta little -Brand X, "Unorthodox Behavior" going on in Allentown this am.

Well, if you don't see any bias test jacks on the outside of the chassis and the manual (can't remember if you mentioned a manual) doesn't have any instructions for setting it then it is likely it is auto baising.  Might send off a quick question to the seller about it jus to make sure.

If it is auto bias then it is very important to get matched pairs for the output tubes so the work together.  Unmatched tubes will be unbalanced in their current draw and usually one tube does all the work and wears out sooner than it should.  You might even hear a difference since there is only one tube per channel.

The 6AU6 tubes are not as important to match but I'd definitely try to buy pair from from the same batch run, i.e. same date codes.  If you can get them matched all the better.

I think it's just awesome you fell asleep while listening!  Says a lot for that little amp's sound quality.

Brand X - Unorthodox Behavior  Double nice and one of my favs.  You just made the signal path simpler and shorter thus improving the sound.  Enjoy your day!

I got in touch with a guy in NC whose an avid DIYer and actively modding these amps, I cracked her open snipped a couple wires per instructions and "wham-o" better sound.
There is like this whole community that take these amps and tweak them endlessly....awesome stuff....not one person has been heard to utter a negative word about these...ALPS, Nichon, some other stuff, apparently good parts.....I did well with this, thank you Trung!!! :thumb:

An update: Musical Paradise is soon releasing the MP-301MKII according to the designer of the amp, he said March if anyone is interested, I know I am...LOL
