Most of my LPs are not noisy and haven't worn. You just gotta have a high quality turntable and cartridge. Properly setup. Plus a phono stage like what BRYSTON includes in their preamps.

There's been tests done on vinyl that have shown no wear after thousands of plays.

Most of today's cds have no dynamic range have too much compression, are maximized and brickwalled. It's all part of the loudness war.

Even an LP cut from the cd sounds better than the cd.

Now SACD, that is pretty damn good.

Due to  RIAA  you need an expander to restore dynamic range on lps. A finer system will only show you the ticks and pops of dust in your grooves, Where are these " tests"  A stylus will remove a bit of high frequencies doe to mechanical contact. Are we all going to play push and shove about this otherwise great hobby of HiFi?  :banghead:

No it doesn't. My records are quieter with the Bryston preamp. Google. I don't hear it. Digital is a mere sample of the music. Analog is the full spectrum.

Why would you do that? You replace your stylus once a year.

Please do not feel bad  :D

I now receive most special attention from our friend expressing “his opinions” via my AudioCircle personal messages. Actually, I am somewhat flattered and consider it much more of a personal touch for an individual to take the time required to jot down one’s own thoughts, or perhaps, more accurately in this instance, juvenile thoughts and send it off. The unadulterated arrogance of some individuals whom deliberately act offensively to people and contemptuously utilize the fragile façade of “their opinion” to either justify or qualify their actions.

I was recently viewing a personal message from our friend while Mrs. Laundrew just happened to be looking over my shoulder. “If his parents catch him doing this, they are going to impose a timeout on him from using their computer,” was her observation. “Dear, this individual is an adult,” was my response. Laughing, Mrs. Laundrew replies, “ this is the first poison-crayon affront that I have read.” Leaving the room while still laughing, she asks me to let her know when the author graduates to pencils.

Ahhh.. Mrs. Laundrew’s most refined and sharp wit, I love her so much. I most deeply regret and am truly saddened that I have but only one lifetime to share with her. :inlove:

Be well…
