Noise at turn off

Should a Bryston amp (especially a new one) make any noise when the power is turned off via the front switch?  A small pop?  Or should it be dead silent (with normal speakers at 88 db sensitivity)?

I have a 4BSST2 and I always get a small "pop" on start up and shut down. I hope it is normal as well!!! :o

Small pop on my 7B SST2's.  It's perfectly normal and independent of speaker specs.

When I turn it off I hear something like a static click, left channel first, right channel right after.

last on first off with amps. You shouldnt get any noise with that procedure. Don't turn your preamp off first.

30 year old 4B that pops on shutdown, I believe James once said its the caps discharging, but I could be wrong.

I have the 4BSST2 and it does the exact same thing.

Most likely the PS caps discharging. Amps with hefty power supplies that don't use relays on the speaker outputs need to discharge the large capacitors through a bleeder resistor and the load/speakers (so the tech doesn't get blasted when he opens the unit for service). Harmless if it's a soft thump, hiss, pop or however you want to describe it. Louder on efficient speakers and barely noticeable on less efficient speakers.
