Hi!
But wasn't BDP-2 built to be expandable?
I mean, it's rear panel is attached to the chassis by screws instead of being a piece of the bottom panel bent upwards. This tells me the mechanical design of the device is such that it can accomodate different connector configurations by replacing the internal boards and the rear panel.
In addition, the machine has a removable cover on it's rear left (looking at the machine from behind). Is this to accomodate additional USB ports?
Cheers!

People were so disappointed about not being able to upgrade there BDP-1's to BDP-2's that the revision changes (somewhere in the 200's I think) I changed the BDP-2 chassis to a two piece so that when we inevitably released the three customers could upgrade the system board. When we do release the BDP-3, customer can buy the system board, rear metal panel and power cable. Customers who have the older chassis will need to buy the additional metal work. The power supply, audio device, dress panel, front panel controls remain unchanged.
Just to be clear BDP-1's not upgrade-able,
BDP-2's upgrade to BDP-3 system board is likely possible
