One other thing that you could try (blasphemy!) is to listen to your setup without those highly reflective (assuming they have plastic/glass coverings) posters that adorn your wall.

Yes, I know the movie posters don't help acoustics.  I am just not sure I can bring myself to taking them down.  Thanks for the thought though.

Stellar.  I'm window shopping amps right now. ..  what is the 'DD' model signify?  I see all the 'Insight+' amps but no 'DD'.  Does it have big knockers perhaps?   :green:

Thank you both for the clarification and page on explanation.  AVA looks like they will probably be getting my business whenever I am looking to upgrade to a separate  amp-preamp configuration. 

But in the interests of marital harmony, I'll say that my Sherwood 965 is doing a quite respectable job.
