One other thing that you could try (blasphemy!) is to listen to your setup without those highly reflective (assuming they have plastic/glass coverings) posters that adorn your wall.

Stellar.  I'm window shopping amps right now. ..  what is the 'DD' model signify?  I see all the 'Insight+' amps but no 'DD'.  Does it have big knockers perhaps?

Thank you both for the clarification and page on explanation.  AVA looks like they will probably be getting my business whenever I am looking to upgrade to a separate  amp-preamp configuration. 

But in the interests of marital harmony, I'll say that my Sherwood 965 is doing a quite respectable job.
