When it was introduced the KC-X1/KM-X1 amp/preamp combination was Kenwood's flagship THX system. The KM-X1 6-channel amplifier is capable of 100W rms per channel or 130W per channel in stereo mode. The KC-X1 preamp has several DSP modes for Dolby Pro Logic, stereo and THX Cinema. As well as the usual array of audio inputs it has several VCR input/ouput connections and has on-screen menus. It also has an FM/AM tuner.

This preamp processor decodes THX,dolby pro-logic,dolby 3 stereo,mono,and dsp logic in the digital domain.The Kenwood turns all analog inputs into digital signals for decoding and then turns them back into regular analog signals at the outputs which you then connect to outboard amps you own.There are no digital inputs or outputs just regular analog inputs and outputs.
