My goodness, I do not "feel" a lot of love for Bose products here :nono:

All kidding aside, I remember owning a pair of Bose 701 series V speakers. I first thought that they would improve in sound quality after I put some hours on them. It turned out that I never warmed up to the sound of the 701s. My friend really enjoyed listening to them and I ended up giving him the 701s. He still enjoys them to this very day and I am very happy for him - audio reproduction is extremely subjective.

One evening, I was really driving my 701s series V and I noticed an orange glow coming from the port. I inquired to the dealer about this orange glow and he told me that there was an element inside of the speaker that had surplus power diverted to it to protect the speaker and the elctronics :o

I also owned a pair of Bose 301 bookshelf speakers. Now these small bookshelf speakers sounded great when actually were placed in a bookshelf or enclosed area :thumb:

To each their own :D

Perhaps a few images are more than required for your viewing pleasure

On my 4B i listened  to the  left channel at 1 volt and the right channel at 2 volts. I did this for about two days.... go figure. Couldnt figure out what the hell was wrong. It took me two days to start looking into it....

Thats what happens when you fiddle behind you gear after too much wine.

phew... i thought i was the only one... took me a few days as well.
the outs on my pre-amp are all in a row, in the order "tape out", "power amp out", and a "something else out". i connected the left channel to the power amp out, and the right channel to the tape out. the balance is rather crooked then... that's what you get when you can't reach behind the thing and have to do everyting while looking through a mirror...

i am also rather good at connecting my loudspeakers out of phase...

Just thought I'd jump in here as an owner of JBL E80's, L20T's and Bose 201's....I'm enjoying them and the fact that they were bargains I picked up from Craigslist. Some folks here may be in the same boat as I and have limited funds but an unlimited appreciation for music. That being said I find the information I read on here extremely valuable as I listen along with all of you to great music on a daily basis....don't bash my JBL's man.....:) :nono:

Volks,  that was a great read.  It confirms what my ears had already told me.

I was looking at the album art of a record that I recently purchased, flipping the jacket over to peruse the song listings I wondered why they used duplicate numbers with the different songs 1 to 5 and 1 to 5, why wouldn’t they list them from 1 to 10

   :icon_arrow:  :!:  :icon_arrow:  :duh:  :icon_arrow:

It has been a very, very, very long time since I last purchased a record.

Be well...
