Does anyone remember where these step by step instructions reside?

In the newer version, the wizard will set it up for you.

Do you mean if your running 7.4.2 you dont have to change the setting? I still have the SB3. Thanks....

Go to Settings > Advanced > File Types.  Find FLAC under 'File Format' and on the right side, where 'Streaming Format' is FLAC, change the Decoder from 'Native' to 'Disabled'.  This will prevent FLAC files from being streamed as FLAC.

Got a Duet receiver coming and its gonna be hard wired. Hopefully it'll work..if not I'll cope. The app I have on my phone(Droid-ERIS) is like ipeng for iphone/itouch, I have an itouch also so some way somehow I'll get this puppy working when it comes.

To be able to set up a Receiver without a Controller I think you'll need a small Perl script that someone has written to do the initial configuration.  Details at the link:

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57861

If you want to run the Perl script from Windows you'll need to install ActivePerl for Windows, available from ActiveState:

JEaton you were right..Logitechs official policy is they don't support "the receiver only"..I think its absurd. I mucked around with perl....and got no where, don't even think I was close,
I have downloaded both files...Active Perl and UDAP Branches...I'm stuck...HELP!!

Ok..I got into Perl and UDAP and when receiver is supposed to signal with a blue light after discovering, saving, the info it never did turn blue. When in Perl I see that the network has found the receiver as its MAC address correlates with unit and I successfully labeled it with UDAP or Perl as [1]. It just never gets to that Blue Light state or I didn't wait long enough. I used instructions from a website that logitech sent me to, very similiar to JEatons info..here what logitech sent me:

An aside while I think of it, Logitech says they have discontinued the receiver for the duet....the gentleman took 15 minutes to get my name spelled correctly though so I don't know how reliable that info is. I do know I got extremely lucky in finding a Receiver. Its cool it blinks Red!! I'm not worried, will figure it out. So far everyone on here has been absolutely correct..Thank you all for tolerating my weekend
mania regarding Le SqueezeBox!!

****Had a smoke, tried again, it works!!!!!!!!!!!!******* Now to see how it sounds, back later when I come up for air.

There has been some misinformation permeating Logitech customer service.

The DUET Receiver HAS NOT been discontinued. It is, however, completely out of stock as a separate unit in the US. No clue as to when more will arrive.

Congratulations on getting the Receiver working. After you play with it for a bit and upgraditus sets in, you might want to think about changing out the power supply for a linear one. Parts Express offers an under $20.00 supply that does lower the noise level quite a bit.

Getting a Squeezebox is like sending your wife to a plastic surgeon and she comes back more like Carmen Electra or Heather Graham..thats my wife/stereo I can't even imagine what you guys wives look like!!! Holy mackarel!!! It all just sounds BETTER..so much more definition and breath. I played drums for some 30 odd years and I know what a kit is supposed to sound like and I'm finally hearing that sound again!!
I'm hooked, done, cooked, I'm all in now guys!!! This is a blast!!! :thumb:

I've seen this said before but I don' understand the reason for it.  Don't you want the FLAC streamed to the SB and decoded there, rather than being decoded in your computer?

If you replace the walwart power supply with a good linear power supply you will notice a huge jump in resolution. If you have the PS modded by Wayne you will be blown away.
