N3 vs N3s sound?
« on: 2 Dec 2009, 04:12 pm »
The N3s is a sealed version of the N3 is it not? If so, can anyone give a description of the sound differences? Bass response?

Thanks!
Jeff

They are basically the same speaker, same drivers, same crossover. What is different is the way the drivers are loaded and the bass response. The floor standing version uses a transmission line design that allows for a lower -3db at 40Hz bottom end.

Oh! So the N3s is not floor standing. But meant to sit on a stand?  How low does the sealed version go?
(yes, that was my email BTW)

It can be used on a stand or layed on its side as a center channel. It will hit -3db's around 80Hz.

Hey Danny, your pdf shows an AV3 center so I'm guessing you mean that the N3 can also be made with a similar center enclosure (with dimensions modified for larger tweeter)? Also, how many sheets of no-res would be needed?

I meant to post this one: http://www.gr-research.com/pdf/Neo3S.pdf

One sheet of No Rez will do it with a little left over.

The half cut circle is at the front.
