Rythmik Sub question
« on: 26 Mar 2010, 05:44 pm »
I am considering purhasing a couple of 12 inch premade Rythmik subs to augment the bass perfomance of my Jag/LFM's. What is the essential difference between the GR drivers and the aluminum drivers. This is a music only system

Where do you think you need to crossover?

The specs on the Jag /FM's are

25-20kHz +3db anechoic, 60-15Khz +1.25db (usable in-room bass response extends cleanly to below 20Hz)

If my memory serves me correct the main difference between the GR paper cone and Rythmik aluminum cone is the maximum crossover point.  I **think** I remember the paper GR driver being able to go to 200Hz.  With that said, judging from your speaker specs, the aluminum would do you just fine.  I use them and cross at 77Hz with no issues.  I've even crossed at 150Hz and felt it was fine.

There isn't a feedback loop on the ACI driver to feed the servo on the amp.

Ah yes....too bad. Thanks

I have a custom ACI Titan and was hoping that I could use it with the Rythmik amp without purchasing the driver. I think that I'll keep the Titan as is and go with the OB bass option and the Titan will supplement the OBs.  Eventually I'll convert the Titan to full servo

I've been down that road myself.  I had 2 Titan II LE's and moved to a single GR sealed servo a while back and added two dual GR OB servo's recently.  They've worked out great for me.

I'd sell the Titan but it has a particularly nice box with 1/2" thick oak veneer. It's very heavy and would be a PITA to sell and ship.

I looked at replacing the driver on the bottom with GR and just using external amp.  It is possible so just a thought.

You could also look at the Apex plate amp for non-servo use -

Danny used to use their product.
