If you see Bob Carver before I do could you ask him if he's ever messed around with electrostats?  Perhaps you could inspire him to tackle a new project.

At around 40 minutes into the video Bob is discussing his ribbon design and says he tried both electrostatic and ribbon designs, but preferred the sound of the ribbons so that's what he ended up producing.
