Hi. Sorry for late response. A lot has happened since the last reply !!
1. I have the Krell 750mcx monoblocks - boy, are they awesome ! The bass is the cleanest, tightest i have ever heard (outdoes my pass aleph 5 and the Halcro's). I find them to be much more musical and transparent than the DM88 BUT still find something missing, maybe because i am using the DM88 as a preamp - not getting the tube-like warmth which i desire. But the halcro dm88 phono stage is excellent - amazing detail but a bit dry and lesser musical than the krell. So i am now selling my Halcro set !!
2. So i decided to get a tube preamp and opted for the EAR 912 - looks like a match made in heaven ! The warmth ,transparency, dynamics, detail, bass and theres more air to the music. I must admit the DM10 PHONO WAS A LITTLE BETTER with more detail. It seems as if the halcro extracts so much more noise and distortion that the music is laid totally bare but damn , no musicality.
3. The EAR is so flexible - with 2 phono inputs and 2 balanced cd inputs - one can have a damn party with this EAR. I was having lots of fun with a Wadia cd palyer, dcs puccini and the orbe playing all together with me being the dj with my kids - cant do this too often since we audiophiles have to behave. I'm sure Tim would'nt want me using his machine in this way. But, i love this EAR - VERY TRANSPARENT, PRESERVES THE DYNAMICS OF THE KRELL, AND VERY MUSICAL AND WARM.
One question, if someone can help - you think a krell preamp with the cast connection would have been better?

kudoosamod, I think you should have purchased a pair of Pass Labs XA160.5 Class A mono blocks, you would have gotten the entire pie instead of just 3/4. Read this review by Jeff Dorgay @ ToneAudio http://www.passlabs.com/pdfs/reviews/PassXA160.5Monos_tone_audio.pdf He's right on the money, just my honest opinion.

I tried the KCT and a Simaudio P-8 and a Gryphon Mirage(my Friends) and for $3500 on the used market, the KCT was a bargain.I have 2 FPB 600c and was using the 25ft mNordost cast for amps and hd the 1m Transparant cast also.Cast is alright,my friend is using my cast with his KCT and Krell CD(cast also-a 25c I think) and 700cx against his Kubala Emotions XLR($$$) and he says he was surprised how close they are.I took the P-8 because of the connections(3 bal inputs) and was never hot, well and SQ
The KCT was hotter than hell and even in standby it was hot,so I would unplug it.

Which amp you think is better - Halcro DM88  versus Krell 750mcx ?

For what application ? What speakers ? There is no best just different. I would be more concerned about synergy with your speakers.
The only true way to tell is to hear both in your system.

XA series amps really are extremely good. Head to head with Andra 2s however, my guess is compared to the Krells, they will run out of steam while the Krell won't.

I'm an impartial observer. I'm a Lamm guy.

Hey ! Its been a long time and have made some changes. The Krells are singing beautifully now. My system is as follows :
1. Krell 750mcx monos
2. Krell EVOLUTION 222 PREAMP
3. Krell 505 SACD
4. EERA cd player
5. SME 20/3 turntable
6. Sutherland phonoblocks
7. Audioquest sky interconnects
8. full CAST system
9. Townshend 3D equipment rack
10. Eggleston andra 2 speakers

now this is the best system i have ever heard. The bass is awesome, very tight and pinpoint imaging and so much of depth. i have now reached the end of this audio venture and now i can sit back and listen to the music. what are your thoughts on the above combination ?

System is on another level!! Must say analogue is best !!!

I dont find Krell and pass amps to have anywhere near the same sonic signature , Pass is more holographic , krell ?  visceral and fast , choose your poison ...:)
