If I were to start again from scratch, based on what I've read and heard recently (but not yet seen or ridden) I would start with the Knolly Endorphin, made in Vancouver, B.C.: http://knollybikes.com/bikes/endorphin
I admit to being a sucker for beautiful machining, and that rear suspension linkage looks to be a work of art.

Wow Mcpherson actuator pushing an F1 style Pushrod with an Ohlins lookalike damper!
Well, that was kinda cool! Gotta agree there! I never saw such a linkage before!
You would get less vibration in the handlebars with this one I guess?
But 2750+ for just the frame... well...
My brother has a $5-6K Carbon frame road custom bike, You know, lance A style and stuff, but
that is just more than I care to put into a bike at the moment!

However, I guess investing in ones health ain't a bad place to begin with!  :thumb:

I've had a "pow wow" with my brother this weekend and we've talked over this issue of bikes and he is thinking about getting one himself this summer maybe also so we're gonna go to a shop and look at options within a couple of weeks.
I'm leaning towards at least a specialized set-up ... that is a bike that will be adjusted to me so I get it just right.
I'm gonna look into a hardtail and a dual damper set-up. Brand names, I don't know yet.
I've looked at Scott, Cannondale and Giant so far.
I guess It pays off to sort of really figure out what I need before I pony up!
