DIY Acoustic Panels

Well I am making some diy panels out of some 2x4 ridgid fiberglass panels a guy gave me. They are only 5/8" thick so I doubled them and plan on using them at first reflection points. I am planing on multicolored fabric but I have some burlap bags from my local bean roaster and thought I would give it a try. I have several different coffee origins and thought it might be unique. These will be for the new house in the game/media room. I not to convined I like them yet, what do ya think?

Cool!! The mitered and stained frames make it look tres chic. Try with some saran wrap or paper  between the burlap and FG if they are absorbing too much high freq. On 1st reflections you might like it better just FG.

Nick,

I think you did a very nice job and produced a fine product.

While not everybody might like the choice of materials, you clearly showed people that DIY acoustic panels need not just be a solid color - bravo.   :thumb:

Defiantly a nice look not sure they'd pass a WAF test though

I think that they look good. Depending on the rest of the decor in the room they should be quite attractive.

Thanks! You guys are too kind. I still think they look a little tacky but the investment will be less than $5 per panel. I can always change them out later if they dont look so great in the room. It is a game room so they might work ok.
Here is the next one up, they sell these for a buck at the coffee shop. I will build the second one and bring them in my current room for audition. Thanks again.

You could build some more and sell them back to the coffee shop, not only to enhance the "coffeeesque" decor, but also to reduce the reflective noise that seems prevalent in coffee shops.

I think this is a very cool way to bring life to a panel that otherwise would be bland.

There are other art themed panels I have seen, but obviously none for the incremental $5!

Nice way to re-use something that would've otherwise been wasted.  Great work and idea.  I hope it inspires more to do the same.
