KXCI's New Year's Day Album Countdown
« on: 31 Dec 2009, 10:36 pm »
KXCI has over 200 volunteer programmers with very eclectic tastes in music. On New Year's Day KXCI will count down the 100 most played albums of 2009 including the listeners' favorite albums in the countdown too, as determined by online voting.

KXCI is commercial free so expect to hear long sets of un-interrupted music. Many of the albums mentioned in the What was your favorite album of 2009? thread will probably be played.

The countdown is from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm Mountain time. Live streaming at http://www.kxci.org/

I'll be listening.

Wayne

Well Wayne, afaic your station's countdown leaves a lot of be desired. No countdown for 2009 is even current w/o the 3 biggest artists of 2009, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna. I can overlook no Kanye West.

But it's interesting neverless to see what the folks in Tucson, Arizona are listening to.  :thumb:

Cheers,
Robin

You have me at a disadvantage sir, I have no idea who the artists you mentioned are and what they do.

I did a quick search of the KXCI playlist and Digital Empire on Friday nights plays some Lady Gaga, Rihanna is a favorite of the Kids DJ Camp Special Programming, and Kanye West shows up all on a lot of playlists. Taylor Swift is a no-show.  :bawl:

If you are up late night check out the specialty programs in the program guide, they get really weird. As an example - on Monday night is The Hub hosted by Bob Girth: With the sheer volume of music that's released each week it becomes impossible to listen to everything so Bob cuts the wheat from the chaff and plays the most interesting, cutting edge indie rock and alternative tunes. You've read about it, you've heard the buzz, now hear the music. The Hub: fiercely independent music for fiercely independent people.

I'm definitively not a night owl so I miss all the good stuff.
