Here's a really stupid question.

I got my SW-12FRs today. There is a rubber ring on the mounting flange. Does that stay on or is it there to protect the edge in shipping? If it stays, do you pull the rubber away to insert the bolt so it makes contact against the metal, and then slip it back into place? I've just never seen a driver w/ rubber covering the face of the flange.

Can't wait to get these bad boys hooked up.

You should be able to insert the screws through the holes on the rubber ring. You might have to wriggle a bit, but they should go through easily enough.

What he said.

And as a note, if you are a little too exact when you rout the recess and it's a little snug, as soon as you put some paint on the recess walls...it gets even snugger. I ended up using some soapy water to help seat mine.

I don't plan on cuttling a recess, just flush mount. Hell I'll be doing good just a cut a reasonably circular hole! I've done carpentry (framing walls, etc) but no woodworking.

Mounting holes in the rubber gasket will line up with the mounting holes in the frame.

I'd go with the W frame if possible. It makes it very solid, and supports it very well. It is also really easy to build.
