ASKA 100 for my Kef 104.2 and the like.

Hi All,

how would this AMP go driving my Kef 104.2 Speakers.
they are currently being driven by a NAD 2600 Power AMP.

I'm looking at making a few power amps to drive my new Home Theatre System.

or will these AMPs drive Kef Q-9 DS & a Kef 202C to the same levels as
the NAD 2600 ?

regards,

Stephen.

Hi, Stephen,

I believe you'll have to provide some specs to get a definitive answer - even from Hugh ("Mr. AKSA") Dean.  Like:
*  what power is the NAD2600 - ie. X into 8ohms, Y into 4ohms?
*  what is the instantaneous output current capability of the NAD2600?
*  what efficiency is the KEF 104.2 speaker?
*  what efficiency is the KEF Q-9 DS speaker?
*  what efficiency is the KEF 202C speaker?

I believe you'll find that the AKSA 100 Nirvana will:
a)  drive your speakers better, and
b)  make them sound much better

than the NAD2600.

Andy

hi stephen,

i had a nad 2200 power amp for many years and to be honest although it had reasonable amounts of power it didn't cut it sonically.

i have a pair of custom made speakers made by war audio here in perth which use the raven 1 ribbon tweeters.  it is very revealing and did not sound very good using the nad amp.

anyway to cut a long story short i now have an aksa 100 nirvana and it easily drives my speakers which are 90db and 4ohm load efficiency.  a little difficult to drive.  the aksa has plenty of reserves for my purposes.

the amp sonically is in the top echelon of ss amps available.

Stephen,

I've not tried the AKSA 100 on the Kef 104.2s, but I know the design and the drivers and I'm quite confident it would have no problem.

If you contact me privately, I might be able to arrange an audition...

Cheers,

Hugh
