RCA or XLR outputs on Modwright Transporter
« on: 15 Feb 2008, 11:47 pm »
Hi all,

Right now I'm running my Modwright Transporter via balanced outputs to my BAT VK-52SE preamp.  I'm replacing my BAT with an Audio Research Ref 3 preamp which has single ended and balanced inputs and I'm thinking I may switch over to the single ended outputs on the Transporter.  What do you think?  Are Dan's single ended outputs the best way to run the Transporter?  Thanks

Frank

Try them both & see which one you like the best. All things being equal, the XLR will trump single ended overall.

I'd love to do that, but I don't have a spare set of RCA Stealth Metacarbon interconnects laying around..............

No freaking brainer.  Use your Metacarbon XLR beauties and don't look back.  I use Nanofiber RCA's on my Modwright TP, only because they are the best cable, not necessarily because RCA outs are the best.  I've a/b'd some very high $$ XLR's on it and no contest, the Stealth Nanofibers are the best in my system by a long shot.  But yes, if I had Nanofiber XLR's I'd choose them.   The TP is fully balanced, and the ARC Ref 3 will like the marriage I would guess.  :thumb:
