Is modding worth paying the extra high price, does it really improve sound quality or is it only a marginal notice?  Also, this is a silly question but, their is a site where audiophile cables are sold but they are used.  Can someone direct to that site PLEASE!  and Lastly, any opinion on a good Tube Phono stage?  So far I looked into the Pro-ject II and Jolida product since they are modestly priced.

I have a Jolida JD100 with a level 2 mod, however, I never heard the unit without the mods so I cant tell the difference.  Wondering if I should upgrade/mod my current  Jolida RC 1000.

Thanks in advance!

As for modding, it really depends on what it is, what you're looking for, who's doing the modding, etc.  Some mods can be as simple as swapping a couple of caps/resistors, changing a volume control, installing bypass caps, etc.  Others can be quite involved.

6moons.com and TNT have done a number of reviews of modded pieces.

In general I'd start with a well built piece that needs only limited additional investment (why invest 3 or 4 times the price of the original component in mods versus just buying a better component to start with?).  I'd also look for modders that have a good warrantee or that the original manufacturer honors their work.  I'd avoid modders that apply the same mod to every piece.
