Hi Guys,

I am in the process of running 4 new dedicated 10/2 lines to my system that  will be capped off with
a couple of Shunyata SR-Z1 outlets.
This will be 1 line  for my Musical Fidelity CDP, 1 for my Modwright SWL 9.0 pre, 1 for my Bryston 14Bst, and
1 extra for later use.
I have a call out to Cam at Bryston to find out cost and what is involved to upgrade my 15amp 14B to
a 20amp version.
I thought it might be a good idea to look into this while I am doing the new electrical service to the system.
 
Has anybody done this conversion to their Bryston or had any comparisons between a 15amp vs a 20amp model?

If Cam can do the conversion at a reasonable cost I figure that it can only improve an already great amplifier.
Plus it will provide a chance to give the unit a once over.

The advantage of the 20 amp version (vs 15 amp) of the 14B is the ability to deliver more current at very low impedances.

I am running PMC OB1's, not exactly a pair of Apogee Scintilla's, would that mean
there would be a slight advantage or more like none?

I don't have any plans to change speakers any time soon, but I guess if I ever
did, the 20amp conversion could offer a wider range of options?

Hi Hpower,

On a 4 ohm or less speaker I would say the 20 amp version is worthwhile. Remember you have to have a 20 amp plug hydro service.

Hello HPower, i to have a 14Bst 15 amp version. Did you go through with the upgrade to the 20 amp version? How much did it cost, if you don't mind me asking. I have a pair of psb gold i that are very power hungry. Thanks

Hi Gary,

A 20 amp wall socket plug and minimum 12 gauge wiring in the wall.
