Hi John,
Are you ready to provide the details on the "bearded" stand tweak..?

Hi Jason and 626 owners.

This is not a new "tweak" but more a slight adjustment to an old tweak.

I have found that setting the "beard" (front baffle below the speaker) at about a 40-45 degree angle, makes another "small" improvement to the bass response.

I wouldn't go much sharper than 45 degrees (50-60-etc) to make sure not and introduce any mid panel reflection.

The slight angle allows the bass wave to have a smoother "trip" from the face of the woofer to you.  Rather than having to travel down the front baffle to the floor and then be directed at a 90 degree angle, it instead has two 45 degree angles, which I think allows less compression of the wave and allows it to sound more open rather than compressed.

Also if you are makeing a pair of beards out of stiff cardboard (stiffer the better) it can also help to make them "WIDE".  Since bass radiates out in all directions, the wider beard can harvest and "direct" more of it in your direction.

So just buzz over to the hardware store and have them cut a couple pieces of masonite or even wood paneling to match your speakers.

You can make them as nice as you like, or just paint them black and place them up to the bottom of your speakers to be put in the closet until you engage in "serious", lights out listening sessions.

Make sure they run from the bottom of the speaker with no gaps to allow the wave pressure to escape or dissipate.  8)
