but I needed to write this. I would like thank the people who responded to my initial thread on quiet fans which helped me start this article, and to other contributors who talked about EAC, and ASIO free-ware.

Agreed.  Very nice article Dan.  I think you basically made a DIY Olive without perhaps the UI of the Olive. 

For quieting the HD (noisy buggers), look at suspending the HD with elastic cord tied to the structure around it. Conveniently, the 5.25" slots are nice for this.  silentpcreview.com is chock full of such tweaks and diy ideas.

I have 2 of the HD enclosures from endpcnoise.com that I haven't put in yet. We'll see what happens.
